Curiosity opens the door to understanding the universe and our place in it, but now we must be objective in our pursuit of understanding. How does one be objective? The better question is, how does one ever avoid being biased? Stevenson dives in to all the ways we are subjective in researching and responding to the world, and it is a lot. Possibly overwhelming... woah.

Stevenson has studied a lot of world history. Clearly not all, but a lot. And from all of this potentially useless knowledge, there can be three premises which lead to one, deeper conclusion...
1. There is suffering and injustice in the world
2. Life is not fair and does not need to be fair to exist
3. You individuals actions, big and small, have an impact on the world, for good or bad
Final conclusion: despite genocide, there is hope for the world...
